DEPARTMENT: Health Information Management (HIM)
JOB TITLE: HIM Tech
SHIFT: 80 Hours Bi-Weekly, 1st Shift
JOB SUMMARY
In accordance with recognized policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance, the HIM Technician coordinates, assembles and examines medical documentation for the assurance of complete medical records. Processes all ROI requests according to CMCH, state and federal regulations maintaining HIPAA compliance.
Essential Functions
- Performs daily analysis on appropriate patient records
- Validates the correct assignment of the deficiency to the provider
- Works with Medical Staff to ensure that the chart completion process is timely and efficient
- Scanning of medical records accurately and correctly
- Validates requests and authorizations for release of medical information
- Handles all requests and inquiries for patient health information whether received via mail, fax, phone or electronically
- Performs quality checks on all scanned images
Requirements
Experience
- Previous experience in Medical Records or equivalent experience
Education Required
- High School Education or GED
Certifications Required or Preferred
- RHIT or RHIA Preferred
